The Greek National Opera has appointed Ersilia Mikrou principal harp. “I am deeply honored to join the Greek National Opera as principal harpist,” Mikrou says. “This institution has been a cornerstone of my musical upbringing, and it is incredibly meaningful to return in this capacity. I look forward to collaborating with its outstanding musicians, guest conductors, singers, and creative teams across a wide range of productions.”
Born in Athens, Mikrou performs as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral harpist across Europe, including appearances at the Royal Festival Hall and with the Berliner Philharmonie, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, and Deutsche Oper Berlin. She most recently served as a member of the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie Ensemble, following a successful trial period under conductor Jonathan Nott. Mikrou has also won several prizes in the UK and Germany, including the Athena Scholarship awarded in London by patron Anna Weeks.
Mikrou is currently completing a Master’s degree in Orchestral Music under Marion Ravot at the University of the Arts in Berlin. She earned a Bachelor of Music with Honors from the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she studied with Suzy Willison-Kawalec. Her early training took place under Maria Bildea at the Athens Conservatoire.
